The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), vide Circular No. 791942/EDLI/Continuous/Service/Clarification/2024/1412640/41, has issued important clarifications on the regulation of claims under Para 22(3) of the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme, 1976. The circular also clarifies the treatment of weekends and closed holidays while determining eligibility and continuity of service for EDLI claims. This clarification aims to ensure uniform implementation, avoid claim rejections on technical grounds, and provide greater clarity to employers, EPFO offices, and beneficiaries.
