The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), vide Circular No. NDC/VEE4-Estt/1807/ECRFilling/2026/e-1239468 dated 15 January 2026, has extended the due date for filing the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) for December 2025 by five days, i.e., up to 20 January 2026, owing to technical and operational difficulties. Employers who complete ECR filing and make the corresponding EPF payments within the extended timeline will not be liable to pay any interest or penalty.
