The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE 2025) for a further period of one month, from 1 January 2026 to 31 January 2026.
SPREE 2025 was launched as a one-time drive to bring unregistered establishments and employees under the ESI framework without inspections, past contribution demands, penalties, or interest.
The extension has been granted after representations from employers, employer associations, and State Governments, reaffirming ESIC’s focus on voluntary compliance and expanded social security coverage under the Code on Social Security.
Employers who fail to register by 31 January 2026 may become liable for retrospective ESI contributions along with damages, interest, and legal action under the ESI Act.
