The Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour & Employment, has released the All-India Consumer Price Index (CPI) Numbers for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) and Rural Labourers (CPI-RL) for December 2025 with base year 2019=100, based on price data collected from 787 sample villages across 34 States and Union Territories. The CPI-AL declined to 137.12 and CPI-RL to 137.03, reflecting marginal monthly decreases, while the Food Index fell by 0.70 points for both categories. On a year-on-year basis, inflation stood at 0.04% for Agricultural Labourers and 0.11% for Rural Labourers, with food inflation remaining negative. These indices are key indicators for measuring rural inflation and are widely used for minimum wage fixation, dearness allowance revision, and labour policy decisions by Central and State Governments.
