The Government of Nagaland, vide Notification No. LAB/DRAFT/LC/1/26/2025-26/196, has published the Draft Nagaland Industrial Relations Rules, 2026 for public consultation. The proposed rules seek to operationalize the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 by prescribing detailed provisions relating to trade union registration and recognition, standing orders, industrial dispute resolution, grievance redressal mechanisms, strikes and lockouts, layoffs, retrenchment, closure procedures, inspections, and employer compliance obligations. The draft aims to promote harmonious employer-employee relations, strengthen dispute resolution mechanisms, and establish a transparent and efficient industrial relations framework across establishments in the state. Employers, trade unions, HR professionals, legal practitioners, compliance officers, and industry stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft rules and submit their objections or suggestions within the prescribed consultation period.
