The Ministry of Labour and Employment, vide S.O. 5320(E), has released the notification enforcing the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 effective from 21st November 2025.
The IR Code aims to modernise industrial dispute resolution, streamline trade union recognition, and provide clarity on employer-employee relations. Key areas include layoffs, retrenchment permissions, dispute settlement mechanisms, and new provisions on fixed-term employment.
