The Government of Sikkim, through Notification No. 11/LD/2025, has granted an exemption to shops and establishments employing 20 or fewer employees from the provisions of the Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983. As per the notification, eligible establishments will not be required to comply with certain regulatory provisions under the Act; however, such establishments must intimate the Labour Department by submitting Form-I within three months from the date of commencement of the business. This measure is aimed at easing compliance for small establishments while ensuring that basic registration and information requirements remain in place with the state labour authorities.
