The Government of Maharashtra has issued Notification No. ΰ€΅ΰ₯ΰ€―ΰ€ΰ€°-2026/C.R.4/Taxation-3 dated 28 February 2026 amending the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Rules, 1975 to revise Professional Tax compliance timelines. Under the amendment, the earlier due date of 31st March has been advanced to 15th March, and references to the βlast dateβ have been replaced with the β15th dayβ of the relevant month, requiring compliance by the 15th instead of the end of the month. Accordingly, examples such as 31st May and 30th June have been revised to 15th May and 15th June, respectively. Employers and professionals in Maharashtra should update their compliance calendars to ensure timely Professional Tax filings under the revised schedule.
