The Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, vide Notification No. 662869-HII(2)-2026/6249, has published the Draft Chandigarh Code on Wages Rules, 2026 for public consultation. The proposed rules seek to operationalize the Code on Wages, 2019 by prescribing detailed provisions relating to minimum wages, payment of wages, bonus, wage deductions, record maintenance, inspections, and employer compliance obligations. The draft aims to establish a transparent and uniform wage administration framework while simplifying statutory compliance for employers and safeguarding employees' wage-related rights. Employers, HR professionals, payroll administrators, labour law practitioners, industry associations, and other stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft rules and submit their objections or suggestions within the prescribed consultation period.
