The Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, vide Notification No. 662869-HII(2)-2026/6252, has published the Draft Chandigarh Industrial Relations Rules, 2026 for public consultation. The proposed rules are intended to operationalize the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 by prescribing detailed provisions relating to trade union registration and recognition, standing orders, industrial dispute resolution, grievance redressal mechanisms, strikes and lockouts, layoffs, retrenchment, closure procedures, inspections, and employer compliance obligations. The draft seeks to promote harmonious employer-employee relations, strengthen industrial dispute resolution mechanisms, and simplify regulatory compliance across establishments in the Union Territory.
