The Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued Notification vide S.O. 1649(E) regarding the expansion of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) coverage to additional districts in Meghalaya, effective from 1st April 2026. This expansion aims to extend social security benefits, including medical care and insurance coverage, to a larger workforce. Employers operating in the notified areas are advised to review the notification and ensure compliance with ESI provisions from the effective date.
